Gettiing ready for Hip Hop International

Heading out to vegas this weekend to compete at Hip Hop International. This will be my 2nd time to compete out of state and I plan on advancing for sure. I really feel that I'm getting closer and closer to my goal but that's only due to hard work and practice and really working with my teammates. I took Ceech's advice and started to record myself much more often so I can critique myself clearly and see whats working well and what isn't.

What to focus on until this saturday:

Listen to the music and Groove.
Get a little crazy - air tricks, splits, alphas, use audience, character
work on chest area and breathing. Must make more apparent.
Work on stops and poses.
Stretch and get legs and arms wider.
Use legs much more.

Batman: Dark Knight Review!

I was able to see this most awesome movie last weekend with my friends back at the OC. This was one of the coolest opening nights I've been to. The workers at Regal dressed up as characters from the movie, so one guy opening the door was Batman, and the Joker was taking our tickets. very cool.

So the movie: greatest opening scene I've seen in a while period. This movie is really smart and there's so much going on (in a good way) that I need to see this again (I'm buying this on blueray). I thought Heath Ledger's performance was going to be good but wasn't sure because of all the hype but wow, he actually scared me and it was really entertaining. I guess the only complaint I had was that it was a little long but if I had known, I wouldn't think of it. Dark Knight throws you into a world where you really have no idea what's going to happen next even if you're deep into the comic world. I thought Iron Man was the best superhero movie this summer but Dark Knight beats it. This movie was much more than good vs bad and that's what makes it entertaining for everyone, not just the fans.

5/5

My time at Homeland

Homeland is a popping and locking competition in Long Beach, CA where I participated in this past weekend. I learned a lot of new things about how I dance and how judges will like certain things or not. More after the break

I've learned that even if the crowd loves you, doesn't mean the judges will so it would be good to know what they're looking for. Usually, they will look for character, utilizing the stage/area, listening to the music, and of course skill. I say I had most of that but I wasn't listening to the music the way I do during practice. I'll have to keep pushing myself to feel the music even deeper than what I know currently.

Oh well, I still had tons of fun esp with my teammates. Here's my locking prelim footage

Season 2 of America's Best Dance Crew

Season 2 has been ok for me so far. I've accepted the fact that there will never be a team as good as Jabbawockeez (although freestyle is another topic tho) but I'm enjoying watching my boys (Supreme Soul) and the bboy team Super CR3W. Honestly tho, the team thats been consistently performing well and definitely will make it top3 is Fanny Pak. I know I know, wth with Fanny Pak? They're a very awkward team displays choreography that may lean on the 'fanny' side if you know what I mean. BUT, they're getting high praises each week, was never on the bottom 2, and to be honest, they're probably the most creative. I'm not saying they're awesome, but they could win.

Something funny that Lyn noticed was there's this Asian girl in the audience that's always there. Yup, always. You can't miss her either, she's to the left of Mario and she's wearing a black dress with her boobs hangin out, every time. Trust me, go watch the thing.

The Force Unleashed Trailer!

Probably the most awesomest game that will be coming out this year and I'm not talking about Metal Gear or GTA, its all about Star Wars Unleashed! My favorite movie series of all time combined with the cool physics engine they're using on our current gen consoles. I'm thinking I'll get this on the 360 if there's any good multiplayer action. If the Wii controls are actually pretty good, I may get both. Yup, I'm that excited.

Bionic and Raul from Supreme Soul in PS3 commercial

This is pretty sweet, not only do I know these guys but they're in a commerical about the PS3! I'm jealous, really jealous. Good luck to them on America's Best Dance Crew but I'm sure they must be pretty happy to be doing this. I would be.

DS Players Regroup!

Well I finally got my team together to really restructure ourselves. Our dance team needed goals and how to achieve them. Here's some of the outline:

Dance Goals: Individual/ Team, Short Term, Long Term

Roles Discussion (addresses how to achieve certain goals by placing point people)

Projects in Process (my favorite part) seems like priority #1 is to get a logo.

Feedback Session: likes and dislikes that needed talking. Probably the toughest to deal with but the most beneficial.

And Comments: how the meeting went, next step for the team.

All together I'm glad we did this because like what everyone kept saying, DSP needed more structure. Now, must write my own goals...

Wrath of the Lich King Beta Opt In

Good news to all of us eagerly awaiting the release of WOTLK beta. I seriously hope I get the invite, but I know its very rare. I think I would definitely try out the Death Knight for sure, check out both of the starting areas of Northrend, and try out both the Rogue and Shammy talent specs since my rogue's 70 and my up and coming shaman should be 60-70 by release as well. Cheers to you Blizzard, you seriously know how to make your fans happy and really make your games not only exciting to play but fun to hear about too.

Chrono Trigger comes to DS

Yay! This is my most favorite game of all time and its being made for the DS! I believe it'll just be a port over but I dont care, that game is a masterpiece that every RPG player should at least try. The story was amazing and really innovative for its time. There's different time zones you play in which affect the future, pretty neat huh? All this on the Super Nintendo, now on the DS and I'm definitely buying.

Baron Davis to become a Clippers player

This is pretty hard to believe but I guess he didn't like it up north as much huh? I feel bad for all of the Warriors fans since this dude's basically the Barry Bonds of Basketball, except he wasnt caught w/ the steroids...yet?

Of all places though, the Clippers? Thats pretty awesome for us LA folk though. I'd like to see the Clippers next season and how this pans out

DS Lightsaber Stylus

Are you serious?? This is so awesome! Found this info from Kotaku:

Say what you will about the quality of recent Star Wars games, you'll be hard pressed finding a bad word to say about these. They're official Nintendo DS styli, only with a bonus Star Wars license thrown in, meaning, yes, these are proper DS lightsabers. What's better is that they come in two variants: you can get a three-pack of regular, plastic ones ($8), or you can get a two-pack where the sabers/styli actually light up ($17).

I'm so getting the light up versions, or possibly both packages, I cant decide haha.
